ANGELICA KAUFMANN

Senior Member

I am a researcher investigating nonhuman and human animal minds and cognition.
I studied logic and philosophy of science at the University of Milan, my hometown, and philosophy of mind at the University of Edinburgh. I completed a PhD at the Centre for Philosophical Psychology at Antwerp University. My work focused on action and intention, temporal cognition, consciousness, mental content, social cognition, and mental imagery. Over the years, I have held fellowships at Columbia University (Italian Academy), Göttingen University (Lichtenberg-Kolleg) and the Leibniz Institute for Primate Research, the Primate Research Institute at Kyoto University, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Edelstein Center), Bar-Ilan University, and Boğaziçi University. Since 2020, I have been a Research Associate at the Cognition in Action Unit at the University of Milan, and since 2023, a Senior Fellow at the Center for Mind & Cognition at Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Currently, I am working on the BIAL project Mapping the Psychophysiology of Commitment and the project Interaction Between Motor Resonance and Motor Control in Action Observation at the Cognition in Action Unit.
